Committee Functions

  1. To have oversight of, and to support, all Area Synod Pastoral Committees
  2. To exercise oversight of all ministers
  3. To determine matters of policy as necessary and bring recommendations to Synod for approval
  4. To be responsible to Synod for the development of a deployment policy, taking account of Assembly targets, and for reviewing and endorsing (if appropriate) any applications for Church Related Community Worker and/or Special Category Minister posts
  5. To have oversight of the procedure for candidating for the stipendiary and non-stipendiary ministry and for church-related community work.
  6. To have oversight of students/ordinands (Education for Ministry 1).
  7. To have oversight of Education for Ministry 2 (POET) and Education for Ministry 3 (CME).
  8. To foster within the Synod concern for and action on the matters covered by the Assembly’s Ministries of the Church department
  9. To have oversight of Lay Preachers recruitment and training.
  10. To have oversight of the ‘Training for Learning and Serving' (TLS) programme, 'TLS Lite' and other elders and lay training.
  11. To make arrangements for the process of ministerial accompanied self-appraisal.
