Synod Executive

Functions of the Synod Executive

  1. To act on behalf of the Synod between Synod meetings, in overseeing the work of the Synod
  2. To plan the business of Synod meetings and to ensure decisions are implemented
  3. To receive and act on reports, requests and resolutions affecting the Synod from the General Assembly, Mission Council, the Assembly’s Administration and Resources department and from ecumenical partners, and to submit and progress reports, requests and resolutions to those bodies from the Synod
  4. To receive and act on reports, requests and resolutions from Synod committees, the United Reformed Church (Wessex) Trust Limited and Synod officers, and to submit and progress reports, requests and resolutions to those bodies and individuals from the Synod
  5. To support Synod officers and Synod committees in their work
  6. To maintain an overview of all committees and their groups and to review the terms of reference and objectives of Synod committees and those groups which relate directly to the Synod Executive
  7. To review the terms of reference of the Synod Clerk and Synod Treasurer
  8. To initiate activities to help the work of the Synod
  9. To ensure that strategic thinking and planning takes place and is considered by the Synod and churches
  10. To maintain an overview of the policies of the Synod
