Functions of the Finance Committee
- To formulate overall plans and policies regarding finance and property and to present these to the Synod for approval
- To implement and monitor the financial and property policies agreed by the Synod
- To give or withhold approval on behalf of the Synod in matters concerned with the synod’s powers under Schedule Two of the United Reformed Church Act 1981
- To act as the Synod Property Committee, receiving advice from the Listed Buildings Advisory Group concerning developments and alterations to Listed Buildings and buildings in Conservation Areas and to give or withhold permission for such works in accordance with the Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act 1990, conducting and recording that part of its business in accordance with the statutory requirement
- To consider the synod’s annual offer to the Ministry and Mission Fund and any action arising
- To receive and consider reports from the committee’s representative on the Mission Council Grants and Loans Group and to consider, and support when appropriate, applications to the group
- To ensure that local churches are kept fully aware of Synod financial and property policy and relevant legislation in whatever form is most appropriate
- To act on behalf of Synod on all other finance and property matters.
