The Property Handbook is currently being updated to reflect recent changes in Synod policy, in particular the recent changes to the decision-making process and the grants and loans policy. When the handbook has been updated the following documents will be incorporated:
- Policy - Grants and loans
- Approval Process
- LBAC Procedures
The strategy of the Wessex Synod identifies church buildings as a resource at the disposal of the Church as it seeks to fulfil God's mission. Appropriate and well maintained buildings will assist that task. Inappropriate or poorly maintained buildings will impede it.
The property handbook is designed to enable your church to make full and responsible use of its buildings. It covers not only regular care and maintenance but also the use of the premises and the steps that might be taken to improve, extend or redevelop them.
The handbook is divided into Sections. There are no page numbers. Sections 021 to 064 set out Wessex Synod policy and advice and the remaining sections provide information, including summaries of relevant legislation that affects churches. Cross references between sections are given wherever appropriate in the form (Ø 621).
As with any document of this sort, the handbook will not remain static. Each section has an issue number and date and, whenever revisions are made these will be updated.
If you have any suggestions for additions or improvements to the handbook, please send them to trust@urcwessex.org.uk
