Welcome to the Website of the Wessex Synod of the United Reformed Church.
Wessex Synod stretches along the south coast from a few miles east of Portsmouth to the extreme west of Dorset, and ranges from Banbury in the north to the island of Jersey to the south. The area of the Wessex Synod includes the whole of Dorset, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, the Channel Islands, Berkshire and Oxfordshire, together with about half of Surrey and small parts of Buckinghamshire and Wiltshire.
This geographical spread provides a wide variety of communities: University cities and seaside resorts, industry and commerce, tourism and agriculture. This diversity is certainly reflected in the local churches.
The Synod consists of 137 churches.
